What is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)?
Cognitive-behavioral therapy or CBT for short, is a form of talk therapy. Unlike other forms of talk therapy where the therapist only passively listens, CBT includes teaching coping skills to help regulate emotions, improve relationships and solve problems to help you improve your mental health and meet your therapy goals. Clients work with their therapist to identify unhealthy thought and behavior patterns that are keeping them stuck and change them to thoughts and behaviors that are helpful, realistic and effective. Some coping skills include calming skills, challenging thoughts, safety plans, assertiveness, communication, interpersonal skills, and mindfulness.
What Can Counseling Therapy Help With?
Can counseling therapy really help me?
“I have had the pleasure and privilege of guiding many people who feel the way you do to become the heroes of their life story. They became empowered to overcome their problems and enjoy the life they have worked so hard for. Many of my clients have been able to revise the way they see all aspects of their life story and have even been able to see the most painful events of their life, as opportunities for growth and strength. They are no longer held prisoner to their emotions or past problematic patterns of thinking and behaving. Although, they are unable to change the events of their past, they are able to narrate their life story so they are the hero instead of the victim and they can create that happily ever after ending they have been looking for.”

What is the process?
Assessment.
We begin by gathering information from you. Starting with your 15-minute phone consult, where we assess whether or not we are a good fit for your goals, to the detailed intake questionnaire, to the initial meeting and each sessions all the way through the the end of therapy, we will be assessing to determine the best course of action for your treatment.
Skill Building.
We use a form of talk therapy called cognitive-behavioral therapy combined with knowledge of neuroscience to help you reach your therapy goals. Rather than just listening, we will show you how to change your thought and behavior patterns that keep you from reaching your goals to thoughts and behaviors that work. You will learn a variety of strategies proven by research such as how to calm yourself, communicate effectively, change your perspective, and more. You will have homework to do in between sessions.
Practice.
With anything new that you learn, you must practice it to master it. During this phase we put together everything that you have learned and you practice applying it to your real-life experiences. We refine and clarify how to implement the skills you learned as well as problem solve when you get stuck.
Maintenance.
During this phase, we will likely decrease session frequency and see how you manage with less support. Our ultimate goal is to get you to such a healthy place that you no longer need us. We will continue to monitor and make sure you are making and maintaining progress. Once you have reached all of your treatment goals and can maintain them for a significant amount of time with minimal support from us, we will decide to either terminate services or move you to visits on an as-needed basis.
How much does it cost?
Imagine, finally having the peace of mind, confidence or relationships you have been looking for. Getting better requires commitment from you to take a chance and do things differently. If you knew how to fix it on your own, you wouldn’t be where you are at now. You have to be willing to invest in yourself, in order to create the lasting changes you are looking for. Are you ready to commit to learning about yourself and how to make healthy changes that will positively benefit your life? The benefits of investing in yourself, your well being and your quality of life overall are priceless.
Sessions are $150 per 45-minute session.
You may use a credit or debit card to pay for sessions.

Believe it or not, the way you feel is not because your friend did not acknowledge you. The way you feel is due to the thought you had about it. It is not the situation that causes you to feel an emotion, but your perception or the meaning you assign to it.
