Heal your heart after loss.
Grief & Loss
Grief is a natural response to loss. It could be the loss of a person you care about through death or losses like loss of employment or a break up. Grief is an intense emotional reaction that often includes physical, cognitive, behavioral, spiritual, social, or philosophical impact. The intense emotions often come in waves that become less intense over time. Complicated grief is when those emotions impact your daily functioning and are ongoing. Counseling therapy can help you heal from complicated grief.

How does counseling therapy help with grief and loss?
Counseling therapy with CBT can help you get back to functioning. Behavioral interventions such as gently guiding you to helpful daily routines or helping you face situations you have been avoiding are some examples of how we will do that. We will also work on helping you to talk out how you feel and your experience. We will identify thoughts that may be keeping you from healing and challenge them into thoughts that are more helpful.
Believe it or not, the way you feel is not because your friend did not acknowledge you. The way you feel is due to the thought you had about it. It is not the situation that causes you to feel an emotion, but your perception or the meaning you assign to it.
